Emotional Freedom Technique

This simple but highly successful body tapping technique was developed by Gary Craig. For more information on how this therapy developed go to his website http://www.emofree.com/

Emotions are our real teachers. They are beautiful and creative energies and without them life would be extremely dull. A healthy emotional life leads to a fulfilling and meaningful existence, rich with colour and experience. Emotions cannot lie to us; rather they continually communicate, guide and heal us. They are essential to our psychological growth and well being.

Feelings attract our attention, indicating the desirable and non-desirable elements in our lives. When we feel joy and happiness we are encouraged to move towards those people, situations and environments that produce these feelings. When we experience emotional pain, it signifies the need to remove ourselves from or stop doing whatever it is that makes us miserable. By listening to the message that our emotions send we are guided in the direction we need to take. Appropriate anger for instance alerts us to the fact that our boundaries have been infringed. We may need to defend our position or assert our needs more visibly. Fear is designed to protect us from danger and to guide us away from threatening situations. Grief begins the process of adjusting to a painful loss and to start the healing process.

It is through our emotions that we gradually change and grow spiritually. By staying in touch with our true selves we become more balanced and healthy individuals.

Unexpressed emotions on the other hand never truly disappear of their own accord. Repressed emotions often express themselves physically. Many illnesses have an emotional component that has become locked within the body. By suppressing or denying our emotions and feelings we prevent change and become stuck and rigid as individuals.

At some time in our lives most of us experience an emotional stumbling block that we find very difficult to overcome. We suppress that emotional experience and seek to avoid any situation that might re-kindle the pain/ hurt / grief thereby limiting our emotional and spiritual growth as individuals. It is these emotions that the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) addresses.

EFT is similar in principle to acupuncture in that it seeks to re-balance the energy flowing through the meridians of the body in a simple and non-invasive way. These meridians are energetic highways around the physical body that when in harmony ensure vitality and good health. However when blockages occur as a result of disharmony at an emotional level then physical problems occur leading to illness. EFT when properly applied removes these blockages from the energetic highways by firmly tapping on the meridian key points. Thereby removing any blockages and restoring good health and vitality to the individual at an emotional as well as a physical level.
